Mr G's Fire...Again?

Of course, this is more rumor at this point than anything else. Apparently, though, there was a fire yesterday at the new site of Mr G's restaurant. The reportedly minor fire was caught and put out before any reall damage was sustained.

So what is the status of Mr. G's ? Sorry to hear about another fire.

What is the status of the burned Mr. G's downtown? How long will it be an eyesore? Who owns the property? Can the remaining building be saved and rebuilt or does it all have to be razed? I heard the police department will be moving in with the fire department when the old building on Cedar is remodled. What happens to the old police departmnet building?

Any word on when the new Mr. G's will be reopening? I thought that it was orginally suppose to reopen just a short while after Christmas on the River.

Last word I got was in February-- Construction was delayed due to rain.

Mr Gilbert still owns the old Mr G's lot unless he's sold it in the last couple of months.

Since the ciy owns the police station, they sould consider moving E911 into there once the Police move in with the Firemen. Maybe that would cure some of the transmision problems. Although, the building itself is said to be in pretty bad shape.

Dave, you been taking lessons from Goodloe on moving E-911? It wouldn't solve anything to move E-911. Will cost a fortune to move it from where it is. It's not as simple as throwing the stuff in the back of a U-Haul and unloading it into a new home. Think of all the phone lines, computer equipment, radio equipment, and recording equipment that would have to be moved, not to mention the downtime. Besides, the police station would have to have extensive remodeling to be inhabitable. Might be better to raze that building the same time as they level the old Mr. G's. Get a 2 for 1 discount!

Would it help to move E-911 HQ to the courthouse once the remodeling and renovations take place thanks to the tax hike since Linden is centrally located?

BTW - a big Thank You to Ken Tucker on the lone "NO." I for one will keep that in mind come election time.
