Re: How was Rodeo in Dempolis?
Papa2, i hate to say it but there is no chance the city of Demopolis is going to build arena . ( There is too many people that has tried hard in the past to get it done with no arena yet) .You are so right about Demopolis needing an arena.*** Everytown around us (Selma, Butler, Eutaw, Tuscaloosa,Thomasville,Grovehill, Greensboro, Marion, Livingston) has an arena. I might also mention they have shows at these arena's every month. Every child does not like soccer, softball, baseball and golf. There is alot of children here in town that ride and love horses and I could probably name must of them cause must of them go out of town to shows right along with my daughter. The city doesn't seem to care about the extra revenue for motel rooms, meals, gas ,etc. that the horse people would bring into the city. The State of Mississippi built covered arenas in several places in Mississippi like Starkville and Meridian. Starkville March Madness Barrel run had 1400 horses & riders from all over the U.S. for a week. Wonder how much extra revenue the city of Starkville drew from that one event? If an arena is built here,(Sorry but I will believe it when I see it) there is alot of talented riders in Demopolis to keep it busy. Several of these young ladies plan to go to college on rodeo scholarships. It would sure serve Demopolis in the future to help these young people out with a place to practice and show. *** These kids deserve the same kind of play area that the city has put into the kids that play ball and golf .
