I know most of us probably already do but for those who don't, I think this would be a good time to renew our prayers for our "guys" in Iraq. The latest killings of Pfc. Menchaca and Pfc. Tucker is horrific. Whether you agree with the war or not, these guys are simply over there doing their jobs and defending our freedoms so that we can be here posting on d~live. I personally am sooooo tired of hearing what a "peace loving" people these monsters over there are! May God bless our troops and the families of those who died to keep us FREE!!!!!

I'm sorry, I haven't had time to check the news today. Are these the two troops that were kidnapped? I didn't relize they had been killed. Yes, I will say my prayers for them.

Unfortunately, yes they are the ones that were kidnapped. This is so sad. Everytime I hear of something like this I start worrying over friends that I have over there. And when I hear from them that they are ok, it is instant relief. But I know this is bad news for other friends and families. My heart goes out to these people. I pray for all the troops as well as all the families that are grieving. May God Bless these men and women that are fighting for our country.

My heart is broken for the families of these young men. I so wanted them to come home safe. And for those who are trying to bring the men home and end the killing. How long do you think we have after bringing our military home before the attacks start here in America. We are fighting this war in their territory. And their numbers have lessened. The proof is in the numbers. And having Zarqawi dead is a great victory. People were too afraid of this man to turn him in. But, someone finally got enough courage. And we hope soon the same will happen to Ben ladin. I so agree with you Bamafan4ever God be with those who are fighting for our freedoms. And be with the families of those here waiting for their safe return.
Thanks for the post bamafan4ever. This can't be said enough. I'ts sad hear about our most recent losses. We need to stay vigilant and unwavering in the support for our troops. All of our troops and their families will be in my prayers.

Does anybody out there have family or friends that are serving in Iraq now? Was just wondering how close to home the "war on terror" really has come. Can't imagine what the families (and friends) go through on a daily basis. It's truly a dirty job that somebody has to do and I'm so thankful for those brave men and women that put themselves in harms way.

Yes. Armywife is a close friend and her husband is there. My husband was in the military and served in the last Gulf war so we have friends that are still in serving and over in Iraq. It is very close to my heart. Knowing these people and their mentality. They love serving their country. Most do I mean. My husband would go today if they would take a 52 year old man. After the men that were taken yesterday and killed, I'd like to go. It makes me angry that they had defenseless men and murdered them because of the hate they have for anyone who does not believe as they do. But, then they have been killing defenseless women, children and men means nothing to them. You sound as if it's very close to you also.

Well said Maestro! And, I agree. No matter how you feel about the battles and conflicts in foreign countries, it should have absolutely NO bearing on rallying behind our troops. These are our brothers, sisters, family and friends. Show your support!
My prayers are with our troops. May God bless you all and keep you safe.

when I was in the Gulf we had a homemade sigh in our command bunker that read " Freedom isn't free sooner or later someone has to pay the price". During my war there was a great program called operation any solider letters, and when we got mail, sometimes we would get boxes of these letter from complete strangers just offering their support and prayers. Just knowing there were so many at home taking time out of their busy lives, to write made us (me) even more determine to do what my country called me to do and to do it with honor. I encourage you to keep our troops and their families in your prayers. I can guarantee you they will be appreciated and cherished. In addition, if your haven't done so already drop one or more of our troops a letter or an email. A good place to start is www.legion.org/support, then go to links, they have lots of support ideas that will really brighten the day of those who are paying the price
