Just wondering, of all the big movies coming out this summer, what is everyone going to see? Will it be "Superman" or "X-men III", or some other great movie coming out? I can't wait to see "The Lake House".

I've seen Da Vinci Code & The Omen... both of those were pretty big hits.

I liked them both. I really want to see X-Men and several of the big ones that haven't been released yet.

Cars: A+

Over the Hedge: B+

Garfield: C

We've seen them all. Cars and Over the Hedge are both really good movies, but Pixar>DreamWorks, IMO.

"Prairie Home Companion" is really funny. Lily Tomlin, Meryl Streep, and Woody Harrelson are good along with Garrison Keillor.

I wish we did have a multi-screen movie theatre... I think a 6-screen would do fine... I think people would drive 20-30 minutes to go to superwalmart / see a movie.... now all we need is a chain sit-down chain resturaunt and we're set...

I went to see Click a couple of days ago. It wasn't at all what I expected but I liked it. I took my kids but I wish I hadn't. The language was NOT what I wanted them to hear, especially when the language was coming from little kids. However, the overall story was pretty good. Don't expect it to be the way the trailer is presenting it, tho!

never saw punch drunk love, can't even tell you that I've heard of it. Will Movie Gallery have it? I never heard of it either. I understand a little bit about seeing someone in a role you're not used to seeing them in. I saw the Robin Williams' movie, 1 Hour Photo, where he was a bad guy. I HATED him in that role. I'd much rather see him in drag like in Mrs. Doubtfire!

It's a strange movie. I don't know if you saw Magnolia, which I think is Paul Thomas Anderson's best movie, but if you didn't like it, then you definately won't like Punch Drunk Love (I don't think). It is very odd.. but I like the artwork (it has switch-ins/outs using this one artist's abstract work) & music in the movie (features a harmonium ... which goes along with the story also).

I think movie gallery has it, but be prepared, it's not your average movie.

I paid $3.99 on pay per view for Napolean Dynamite (The kids wanted to see it) Half way therough the movie my 9 year old looks at me and says " This movie does not make sense" I of course had to agree but I love to hear my 12 year old talk like Napolean so I guess something came out of that $3.99. Other wise it was a waste of money. Oh by the way we now have the DVD and the girls have Napolean shirts. I have no sense what so ever.

k, here is a movie review!! I went last nite to the ever so fabulous Demopolis Theater to see The Breakup. I have to tell you to begin with, I really enjoy our little theater..the price is wonderful.. I think it's great that it's in a good area where you can drop your children off and know that they will be okay. I noticed alot of teenagers there and I was happy to see them there besides off doing alot of wrong things. The soda and popcorn is reasonably priced and it's quite clean. This is the 3rd movie I've seen there and I have not one complaint at all!!

k, here is for the movie..it was great, if anyone has a chance togo see it..PLEASE DO!! Jennifer and Vince is just wonderful in this movie..I laughed, cried and smiled the whole way through..it's a total chick flick..but it's worth everypenny to see it!! 3 cheers for this one!!

I hope someone reads this and decides to go see it, it was just great..I called my friend who went with me on the way home and we talked about it for atleast 20 minutes!! JMO, check it out!

Pirates: Phase III....

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is lined up to play the swashbuckling father of a pirate in the third installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series, star Johnny Depp said Tuesday.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer said Richards would have a cameo role as the father of the flamboyant Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Depp, in the third "Pirates" movie, which is due to resume filming next month in California.

Depp, 43, has said he adopted the body language and mannerisms of the veteran guitarist to create Captain Jack's character.

"We're all looking forward to the idea of Keith coming in and doing a cameo," Depp told a London news conference to promote "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," which opens in Britain on Thursday.

"You never say it's definite until the guy steps on the set and the camera is rolling. But it's looking very, very good," he said.

Co-star Orlando Bloom said he was similarly enthusiastic about working with Richards — provided the rocker is in good health.

"I can't wait to see him — well, if he doesn't kill himself falling out of coconut trees," Bloom said. "Very rock and roll."

Saw "Lake House" over the weekend. Keanu is so nice to look at...and I like Sandra Bullock, but the movie is very hard to follow. If you have an extremely rational mind...save it for the DVD--because it is not logical. Just a love story with gorgeous scenery (really, lots of shots of country sides, architecture, etc. - not just Keanu).

Can't wait for Depp!! The man is a hunk- always has been. Even in ScissorHands!

Such sad news! We arrived to see Pirates of the Caribbean at 5:00.....so did everyone else in Columbus, GA and surrounding areas. In fact, the 5:00, 5:50, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30...etc.....up until 10:10.....shows were all sold out. So did I get to partake of Johnny's beautiful pirateness? No, I did not. So what did I do? Ouch, it looks like an Entertainment Weekly reporter did not like the new Pirates movie. Here's what she wrote:

Arrrgh! Sequel a wild ride that leads nowhere
By Lisa Schwarzbaum

I was wrong to be so harsh on "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" when it steamed into port three years ago.

The original is a thing of balletic grace, theatrical richness of character, and self-effacing economy of action when compared with the shapeless, weightless, endless "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." The sequel is a version 2.0 that, in its final minutes, portends a future 3.0 of such necessarily staggering, ostentatious extravagance as to bankrupt all but the most iron-walleted of Hollywood producers.

Yes indeed, "Pirates" 2.0 is a theme ride, if by ride you mean a hellish contraption into which a ticket holder is strapped, overstimulated but unsatisfied, and unable to disengage until the operator releases the restraining harness.

The barely intelligible plot hardly matters, except insofar as young sweethearts Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) are once again thwarted from, as they say in classic pirate movies, getting it on. This time what stands between the two photogenic romantic leads is bluster from a new villainous British prig-in-a-wig, some twitty adult who demands that Will do some impossible thing or another to earn his freedom.

Meanwhile, Jack (the louche weirdness now ratcheted up by the one-of-a-kind Mr. Depp so that jumpin' Jack is an exotic "Cage aux Folles" bird of even fancier lip twitches, wrist curls, and rouged feathers) owes a debt to the underworldly lord of the waterlogged, Davy Jones (Bill Nighy). And Jones commands a ship of dead fools disfigured with pulsating, curling, slimy goiters and squid-like protuberances.

This army of the deep suggests the very picture of ick by teen standards, conjured through the very fanciest of special effects; the clattering skeletons of the original "Pirates" look positively minimalist by comparison.
Anyway, as Jack, Will, and Elizabeth work cooperatively, the makers of "Dead Man's Chest" hurl obstacles in the trio's way with the tenacity -- and undifferentiated agitation -- of shipboard monkeys. Clash after calamity after jokey mishap ensues, with time enough for many of the original secondary players to cash their own paychecks.

But this is where the cheat between sensation and satisfaction comes in, a substitution only likely to become more commonplace as the "Pirates" franchise becomes the very model of modern studio brand extension.

Without character, where's the consequence? Without consequence, where's the joy? Without an artistic stake in eliciting joy (or sadness, or concern, or something other than a glazed giggle at Depp's finery), there's nothing to keep producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Gore Verbinski, and their screenwriting galleymates from piling on another big false ending, and another, and another, "Caribbean" without end, until a pummeled audience begs for a toilet break and, for mercy's sake, a real conclusion.

Discounting adrenaline rush, fright, nausea, and relief as evidence of dramatic effect, there are no consequences in a theme-park ride: You get on, you get jiggled, you get off. Maybe you even ask for another go-round, because it feels so good when the jiggling stops.

The difference is, a ride runs a few minutes, while "Dead Man's Chest" cranks for what feels like an infernal eternity.

LOS ANGELES - Johnny Depp's boozy, woozy buccaneer Jack Sparrow has plundered the box office, with "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" taking in a record $132 million in its first three days, according to studio estimates Sunday.

We went and saw "The Lake House". It was ok, but I will not watch it again. Once was enough. It was not near as good as I thought it could have been. It was alright though. However, the acting was really good. We also saw "Eight Below" and I too cried like a baby. There was one part that scared Noah though and he will not stop talking about that part, not giving anything away.

There's one coming out with Mark Wahlberg starring as a bar tender who walks to a football team in Pennsylvania. Looks like it will be good.

Also one with a museum of natural history where everything comes alive at night. Looks very funny. Has Robin Williams in it.

And what's the deal with the way-too-long American express commercial with Wes Anderson? I'm way tired of seeing it 5 times every time I go to see a movie.

We saw Pirates and Cars on vacation, and my two older children saw Lady in the Water. Pirates is great! It is left completely open-ended, predictably. I'm about 90% sure I remember seeing a movie about snakes on a plane on TBS (one of those cheesy made-for-tv movies with a budget lower than mcdonalds for a day). It was horrible... but I can't wait to hear Samuel Jackson say "They's motherflippin snakes on the motherflippin plane!"

The family went and saw "Click" at the Marengo theatre on Sunday night. Let me say that I like Adam Sandler & I thought he did an excellent job in this flick. Sandler has done a ton of comedy movies with terrible jokes and corny plots, and until Anger Management really he didn't have much to his characters other than his goofiness. If you're going to see Click solely for a good laugh, you'll love the first 45 minutes and hate the rest of it. The script takes a swerve closer to the end and, unlike any of Sandler's previous movies, the "down" part of the movie (where the main character goes through rough times) is actually very well done. Click goes from being a comedy to a drama - just for a little while.

The dramatic portion of the movie allows Sandler to act as a regular human being; a man who faces the real life consequences of putting his work ahead of his family. It's something a lot of people can relate to, and all of the characters in the movie contribute to the storyline very well.

Click provides great comedy and Sandler's best dramatic performance in a movie. It's clean enough for the kids (okay, the early teenagers), a good laugh with the guys or girls, and turns out to be a surprisingly good date movie.

Tagline: What If You Had A Universal Remote... That Controlled Your Universe?

Plot Outline: "Click" focuses on a workaholic architect who finds a universal remote that allows him to fast-forward and rewind to different parts of his life. Complications arise when the remote starts to

I give this movie a 2 thumbs up & may purchase it when it arrives on DVD. BTW...did I mention that Kate Beckinsale is SO HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The wife & I watched a movie called "The World's Fastest Indian" starring Sir Anthony Hopkins. Hopkins stars as Burt Munro, a man who never let the dreams of youth fade. After a lifetime of perfecting his classic Indian motorcycle, Burt set off from the bottom of the world, Invercargill, New Zealand, to clock his bike at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. With all odds against him, Burt braves the New World on a shoestring budget. He set a new speed record that still stands today. Burt's quest culminates in an unlikely conclusion and remains legendary within the motorcycle community to this day.

You don't need to like motorcycles to enjoy this movie. It's based on one hell of a true story.

I'm with you Debby. I enjoy our home theater much more than sitting in the middle of a bunch of loud people munching popcorn, chit chatting through the movie and kids running up and down the aisles. We have a big screen tv at home with surround sound and we can watch the movies just fine and in much more comfort. Just have to wait a little longer to see them. There are some that I like to see on the really big screen first, like the Star Wars movies or any of the larger than life type events but most play very well on our tv. :)

If you want to watch a feel good movie that leaves you cheering for the underdog, I suggest Walt Disney's "Invincible" starring Mark Wahlberg recently released on DVD.

"Invincible" is a true story based on the life of Philadelphia's Vince Papale, a 30-year old down-on-his-luck bartender who struggles to make ends meet for he & his wife. His wife leaves him, takes everything with her and leaves Vince a note that infuriates him. Meanwhile, The Eagles, who won a mere three games last season, are holding open tryouts and looking for fresh players, this is devised by The Eagles new coach, Dick Vermiel (played by Greg Kinear who looks a lot like him with his 70's hairdo).

Vince tries out for the team and makes it through the first cut & eventually gets an invitation to the Eagles training camp. Vince goes on the work harder & make the Eagles football team without any football experience. He played for three yeas in the NFL.

It's a great movie & you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I recently went to see "Night at the Museum". I am not a big Ben Stiller fan and had my reservations about seeing it, but.......it was really good. A great movie for the whole family to see! The movie was funny without being stupid. Owen Wilson, Robin Williams, actress that played the mother in all the Spy Kids movies, Dick Van Dyke, and Mickey Rooney (yes, he is still alive) are all in it, plus other actors I recognized.

Ben Stilller gets a job as a night watchman at the Museum of Natural History because he wants to have a stable job and place to live for his 11 year old son. When the sun goes down everything in the museum comes to life and the fun begins. You'll have to see it to find out the rest.

The Grid Iron Gang is also a very good movie, I would recommend it.

It stars The Rock and a few others who are Juvenile Officers at a boys facility. They form a football team to try and get the boys involved and to tech them teamwork.

It's definitely worth the money. Reminded me a lot of LOTR, but a little darker. I love stories set in medieval times / dragons / magic mythology -- I guess you'd say the Fantasy genre.

We did the semi-annual family movie thing last week. With 5 of us, plus the inevitable popcorn, etc., it costs us over $50, even with a matinee, so we don't go as often as I'd like. We had to watch, quite naturally, a child's film. We saw Charlotte's Web and it was good. I wanted to go see We Are Marshall or Rocky Balboa though. I'll be glad when the kids are old enough that we can send them into one movie and go into another one ourselves.

Although I never got the chance to see it on the big screen like I wanted, we just finished watching "The Guardian" w/ Kevin Costner & Ashton Kutcher. It takes you inside the elite world of the United States Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers. Filled w/ spectacular rescues in the lethal waters of the Bering Sea, the Guardian, is a riveting & compelling story that dives straight into the heart & soul of the real heroes, the unsung guardians of the sea.

This is another of those feel-good movies that I highly recommend. In fact, I'm considering purchasing this movie through my Columbia House DVD club.

Pan's Labyrinth.

I saw it this past Thursday night in Tuscaloosa. (Closest place to see it ... it's selected theaters only). I'd say it's probably the best movie I've seen in a couple of years. The entire movie is in Spanish, but you get over the subtitles really quickly. It only took me about 10 minutes to get over the fact that I was having to read what they were saying... and the movie went by so fast!

It falls in the genres of Fantasy / War / Horror / Fairy Tale. And it blends them all together perfectly. It's pure eye candy along with two world's all rolled into one movie and they flow perfectly between each other.

4.5 Stars! :)

A fair warning though, this is a very sad movie. Or you could say it had a happy ending -- it's completely up to your interpretation of what is real and what is not.

It's the story of four middle-aged friends who are sick & tired of their lives & take to the open-road on their Harley-Davidson motorcycles for a little road trip. They encounter a group of rough-neck bikers along the way & spend the rest of the time trying to outsmart them. There are cameo appearances by father & son Paul Teutel & Paulie of Orange County Choppers and the original "Easyrider" biker himself...Peter Fonda.

FBI upstart Eric O'Neill (Phillippe) enters into a power game with his boss, Robert Hanssen (Cooper), an agent who was ultimately convicted of selling secrets to the Soviet Union. For all the military buffs out there, you've got to check out "Shooter" on DVD starring MarK Wahlberg.

Bob Lee Swagger (Wahlberg), one of the world's great marksmen and the son of a Congressional Medal of Honoree, is a loner living in the Rockies. He's left the military, having been hung out to dry in a secret Ethiopian mission a few years before, when he's recruited by a lisping colonel to help find a way that the President of the U.S. might be assassinated in one of three cities in the next two weeks. He does his work, but the shot is fired notwithstanding and Bob Lee is quickly the fall guy: wounded and hunted by thousands, he goes to ground and, aided by two unlikely allies, searches for the truth and for those who double-crossed him. All roads lead back to Ethiopia.

Running time is 124 minutes.

Well I'm into true story movies. Now I know Hollywood embellishes most of their productions for box office sales, but we recently watched "Zodiac" starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey Jr. There is even a part played by Anthony Edwards (Dr. Mark Greene of ER fame).

Based on the real life notorious Zodiac, a serial killer who terrorized San Francisco with a string of seemingly random murders during the 1960s and 1970s. A serial killer in the San Francisco Bay Area taunts police with his letters and cryptic messages. We follow the investigators and reporters in this lightly fictionalized account of the true 1970's case as they search for the murderer, becoming obsessed with the case. Based on Robert Graysmith's book, the movie's focus is the lives and careers of the detectives and newspaper people.

It's a liitle long for me w/ running time of 157 minutes, but a good movie for those interested in true stories.

Any Jim Carrey fans out there? If so, check out "The Number 23" recently released on DVD. Be warned though, there's no comedy in this one for the actor.

On his birthday, Walter Sparrow, an amiable dog-catcher, takes a call that leaves him dog bit and late to pick up his wife. She's browsed in a bookstore, finding a blood-red-covered novel, a murder mystery with numerology that loops constantly around the number 23. The story captivates Walter: he dreams it, he notices aspects of his life that can be rendered by "23," he searches for the author, he stays in the hotel (in room 23) where events in the novel took place, and he begins to believe it was no novel. His wife and son try to help him, sometimes in sympathy, sometimes to protect him. Slowly, with danger to himself and to his family, he closes in on the truth.

I saw I know who killed me a few weeks ago. I would have to nominate it for best comedy of 2007. and no it is not meant to be funny. but lindsey lohan is a one arm one leg stripper, if that is not funny what is j/k. anyway check it out if you just want some laughs. the acting in this movie is horrible no wonder the girl is drinking and driving and snorting coke. but if you want to see a good movie on dvd check out "fracture" starring anthony hopkins and ryan gosling. it is about anthony hopkins finds out his wife is cheating on him and shoots her, he admits it to the police at first but no one can prove it. ryan gosling is the prosecuter of the case. pretty good movie

I did a little research :) Its a remake of a 1957 movie.

Peter Fonda is in it, too :) Looks like a GOOD One! :D

Premise
In Arizona in the late 1800s, infamous outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) and his vicious gang of thieves and murderers have plagued the Southern Railroad. When Wade is captured, Civil War veteran Dan Evans (Christian Bale), struggling to survive on his drought-plagued ranch, volunteers to deliver him alive to the "3:10 to Yuma", a train that will take the killer to trial. On the trail, Evans and Wade, each from very different worlds, begin to earn each other's respect. But with Wade's outfit on their trail - and dangers at every turn - the mission soon becomes a violent, impossible journey toward each man's destiny.

Anyone here seen Superbad? The movie trailers look HILARIOUS!
Superbad was REALLY funny, but very sexually explicit-Lots of sex jokes. So, make sure you don't get embarrassed too easily! But it was hilarious!

If anyone likes Mr. Bean then you'll enjoy Mr. Bean's Holiday. It is just like his old tv shows, just alot of stupid crazy antics. It is a good family movie.

Hey! no good western since Tombstone? What about Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2?

They had many Western elements to them. They aren't technically western's as most of you would think of the genre, but it had some nice Western elements and scenery.

I guess you're right. I LOVED those movies. When considering the wedding scenes and the background and the way they dressed (except in Japan). It did have some Western undertones to it :)

The Number 23 was a good movie, creepy, and I gotta admit, one I didn't figure out while watching.

TMNT was fun.

This movie was not my cup of tea at all. It did, however, take this movie exactly 23 minutes to put me to sleep.

Anyone interested in a good suspense?

Halle Berry, Bruce Willis, and Giovanni Ribisi star in "Perfect Stranger". A journalist (Berry) goes undercover to ferret out businessman Harrison Hill (Willis) as her best friend's killer. Posing as one of his temps, she enters into a game of online cat-and-mouse.

How Far Would You Go To Keep A Secret?

ok so this is a silly movie but "blades of glory" is really funny. probably not for kids because of a lot of sexual references. but if you just want a good laugh check it out.

There's a really good movie coming out Sept. 14/ 21 (national).

It's called Across The Universe

It reminds me of a mixture between Forrest Gump and Moulin Rouge.

check out the website... the trailer/preview on the site is good to watch just by itself!

Jude, Lucy, Max(well), Sadie, JoJo, and Prudence -- any guesses to the music on which the film was based on? -- no answers if you've already been to the site...

bonus points -- name the songs that the characters come from. the first two everyone should know...

We watched Knocked Up for the first time tonight. It was hilarious! Especially if you've been through the nine months of a pregnancy and then a birth! It was a little graphic, though. I can't wait to see The Heartbreak Kid! That's on my Must Do Soon List.

Anyone liking Kevin Costner in a VERY different role needs to check out Mr. Brooks. You have NEVER seen Costner like this before!

The story follows a man with a murderous alter ego. Tracy Atwood (Demi Moore) is a tough detective whose devotion to her craft catches the attention and respect of the serial killer she is hunting, which leads to a symbiotic relationship.

Anyone liking a sinister, suspenseful, psychological thriller will like this movie.
