Fish Plant Smell
I went to watch some games at the sportsplex and when I steped out of my car. the smell of the catfish plant like to have made me spill my guts out. Is there anything they can do to kill that smell. I feel sorry for the people that have to live and work aroud that sent all the time. Maybe they get use to it but for me it was awfull.

I'll tell you one worse than that. We rode through Uniontown last week on our way back from Selma & the stench from the cheese factory over there is far worse than the catfish plant.

That smell is pretty rank. I have had go over there several times, it just about made me sick. I don't see the people who live in the area can deal with it. I guess they just got used to it.

It may be the comments that I heard from some who work at Gulf States...about the smell. Smells like money.

That is what we said growing up... I would think they could do something to cut the smell down a little bit because it is awful...

Was it the catfish plant of the tank cleaning place smelling? Both are located close to each other. I almost gagged on a chemical like smell when I drove by a few days ago on highway 43.

When I lifeguarded at the DA pool when I was in high school, I hated the smell of the catfish feed plant that was by the river. Smelled straight NASTY! I also used to work in a retail business that was frequented by the hardworking men and women that worked at the processing plant. They would come spend there money right after they got off of work and didn't even bother to change first! We would have to open the doors to get the smell out afterward! But they were working hard and making money and spending lots of it with us, so we didn't complain too bad. But the smell was horrible!

Unmistakeably the catfish plant Sarge. I'm sure you know what catfish skin & guts smell like, especially if you leave'em out in the hot weather to get a little ripe!

The smell comes from there gut pond where all the wast water is kept, that the plant used in the processing of the fish before it's sent into our sewer system. Next time you smell it, study the smell. If you do, you may notice the slight oder of vanilla. they have a 55 gal drum next to the pond that sprays a vanilla sent into the air. "Like it helps any! " Let me tell you one of the coolest thing I ever saw, was when the gut pond caught fire. It looked like what you might imagine hell would look like. the flames looked like tornado's that had to be 50 feet or higher. you couldn't stand or park 1000 ft. from the pond. The heat would blister the pant on you truck.
