Possible "Ray of Hope" for DHS' Football Future.

Of course, nothing is definate yet.

Of the many rumors circulating about Coach Goodwin leaving ro not leaving, the two most consistant of the possible locations he may or may not be going to have been in Sylacauga and Birmingham(both coming from AL.com posters claiming to be "in the know").

It was announced on January 7th that John Blackmon will take the head coaching job at Jackson High School in Sylacauga. Click here for the full story

Another vacency, one at Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham, was filled on january 30th by their Defensive Co. Jerry Hood. See the full story here.

I haven't seen any other "rumors" circulating about any other coaching possibilities except the job he already has. It would be great to get some kind of announcement to put this issue to rest. I'm looking foward to cheering DHS on to a baseball and another softball title this year. Lets put the football matter to bed.

Most schools are now preparing for spring practice and most of the coaches changes should be completed. If there were to be a head coach change at DHS after the end of February then both DHS and the other school involved will be behind the eight ball preparing for next season. About like Shula taking over at Bama last year. If Coach Goodwin does leave for another school wouldn't he have to leave DHS prior to spring practice to be effective at the other school next season?

Is speculation about him leaving hurting season ticket sales?

You are right dave, it would be much better if he just comes out and make an official public statement that he is staying at DHS for the 2004 season and then will consider offers from other schools, if that is the case.

I plan on attending some baseball and softball games this year. When will the schedules be out? Don't recall seeing any.

Play Ball!!!
