I have to give big props to the DPD and E-911! Friday I was on my way home from Tuscaloosa when I came up behind a flat-bed 18 wheeler. The truck was going abnormally slow (about 35 mph), and severely swerving all over the place. I thought there might be a problem with his load, but there wasn’t. Either the guy was intoxicated, or maybe falling asleep, but he was worrying the hell out of me either way. The driver was constantly drifting into the other lane while topping hills, often causing the oncoming traffic to get onto the shoulder to avoid collision.

When I got just outside of Forkland I decided to call 911 before the guy killed somebody. So I called them up, gave them a description of the truck, and a mile marker location. My cell phone was breaking up a little, but the 911 service called me back to verify my current location. The lady that I spoke to was VERY nice, prompt, and showed concern for the problem. Sure enough as soon as I topped the big river bridge crossing into Demopolis there were THREE units waiting for the guy. The officers preceded to surround the truck, and safely escort him off the road.

Great job DPD, and thanks to the lady at E-911. You all did a wonderful, professional job. Keep up the good work guys!

See? These are the stories Goodloe doesn't print in his paper! Not everything Marengo County E-911 does is a goof-up! These people are human and will from time to time make a mistake. the other 99% of the time, they are doing their job like they are trained to do. Kudos guys and girls!
