Birmingham (AP) - Alabama Power Company has sued a cell phone company and eight cable companies, threatening to take their equipment off the utility's power poles if they don't start paying rent.

what kills me too is how they (cell phone companies) will cut your phone off if ya dont pay your bill (rent) even if you cant recieve a call in 3 days....or make a call for that matter.they sure dont credit your account for the inconvience.......

Be sure your cell phone works where you want it to. Bro got one think Cingular, lives in Montgomery. Comes home to Linden and his don't work in that area, don't know how big an area, but is suppose to. Uses Mom's Southern linc when he is home. Sis has one, don't know if Cingular or not, but she has to come out of the woods for hers to work. Won't work at home. Dead spot I guess.

Okay since I sell cell phones, I guess I need to comment on this one. You all need a Southernlinc. Come see me.
I hate my southern linc. I work in Grove Hill and I lose signal many times coming up 43. Especially in Dixons Mills. Also in spots between Linden and Demopolis.

i agree. i have had nextel (doesn't work here), verizon, southern linc, and cingular. plus the other piece of ........ companies that demopolis has had. i thought verizon was the best but i just got cingular and they have improved alot since i last had them. i have been very pleased and probably would not change unless they really pissed me off for some reason. nextell just sucked and southern linc always had service problems. verizon was good.
I would rather do without a cell phone than to have Unicell or as Stickman calls them "Unihell". I sold cell phones here 14 years ago when the service was new to the area & CellularONE (now called Unicell) at the time sucked. 14years later...they still SUCK!
I've had SouthernLINC for many years now, but after doing some traveling the last few weeks & having little or no SouthernLINC service, the wife & I decided we're "raising the bar". I purchased 2 Cingular phones last week through their website, got successive phone numbers & can't wait to receive them.
I guess I'll let my 16 year old have my SouthernLINC until the contract expires, then I'm adding him to my Cingular plan. I also get a corporate discount from my employer through Cingular. I hope we're not disappointed.
