I saw the movie Saturday afternoon (matinee). I really liked it.
Has anyone else seen it -- if so, what did you think?
M. Night's movies in my order:
tied for #1 & #2 The Village, Lady in the Water
#3 - The Sixth Sense
#4 - Signs
#5 - Unbreakable
It did not do well at the box office, but that's not the way you decide what is and what is not a good film.
I do think he needs to stop marketing his movies the way he continues to do. People go in expecting something completely different than what they actually get (which worked wonderfully at first -- Sixth Sense, and Signs are best examples), but now I think he's going to have to find some other marketing gimmick to get his films the viewing they deserve. I admire him though as a unique writer and film maker.

I think M. Night is "da man" when it comes to the modern day film maker. I am convinced that his creativeness and ingenuity as a storyteller and filmmaker will keep us movie lovers entertained for years to come. So far, Sixth Sense is my favorite with Signs in second. I will be seeing Lady in the Water soon.

Lady in the Water:
It's VERY interesting.... I just wonder what the running time was, becuase it seemed like the movie just FLEW by...
but maybe it was a short movie -- not sure.
If you go to see it, you definately need to go into it with an open mind, and remember that he even said himself that this is a fairy-tale / bedtime story. And I LOVE the music in it. (You'll see).

Unfortunately the critics have been brutal in "their" reviews of Lady in the Water. (Just as they were with The Village.) I believe that many of them are so caught up in the special effects age where special effects complement a story that they cannot appreciate great stories (like The Village) where the story and characters make the movie. Even though I have not seen Lady yet, I wonder of this might be the case again?

I have not heard great reviews about Lady in the Water, but I want to go and see it! I LOVED Sixth Sense! I thought it was wonderful! I have not seen Signs but my dad watched it and he liked it and it is hard to please him, so if he liked it it must be okay! I have also not seen the Village I wanted to though! What kind of movies are they? Are they horror, suspence, what?
i have to say, i did not enjoy either the village or signs. i think maybe i wasn't in the right state of mind. hearing you say how much you guys enjoyed them, i will give them another chance. i would definitely like to see lady in the water.
I like that he makes minor appearances in his movies. He's a cutie.
Well Stephen King does the same thing in just about all the televison shows based on his novels, not too sure about the movies though.
The only movie by M. Night I have seen was "The Sixth Sense" and it was good.
