Telemarketers-go away

I read that in a little over two weeks, cell phone numbers will be released to telemarketers and the call will be charged to you (time).

There is a "National Do Not Call Registry" which you can register cell or conventional phones. The URL is:

The process is quick and simple.

Thanks, Mr. D. I added our cell phone numbers. I added our home number back when the list first came out & it DID stop most of the bothersome telemarketers. Again, thanks for the update.

Don't hate the telemarketer... they are people with jobs trying to get by... hate the company they work for. When you cuss or scream or get angry at a telemarketer as soon as you find out they are one... you should be ashamed.

BUT ... if you tell them "i'm not interested thank you" or "no thanks" or "goodbye" and they still keep you on the phone... then THEY are fair game for whatever colorful diatribe you can come up with.

I don't hate the telemarketer, it's just they seem to call at the most
inconvenient times. Usually it's right as your family sits down to dinner, is walking out the door to go somewhere, or either you're getting out of or into the shower. And when they use their tactics to try & keep you on the phone AFTER you've said NO thank you...then they should be prepared to hear anything that comes out of your mouth. Now I just hang up after saying NO so my blood pressure doesn't get too high.

I'm really appreciative they are working & trying to make a living, but EVERYBODY hates them & I would hate the idea to know that's how I made a living.

My favorite reply to them was originated by a local businessman and when asked to speak to Mr. Smith, he replies in his best Mississippi hillbilly voice, "I kant git him rat now, he's out back slopping da hawgs". If any of you don't know what slopping the hogs is, it is feeding them the left over kitchen scrapes.

Cell Phones
You may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. The registry has accepted cell phone numbers since it opened for registrations in June 2003. There is no deadline to register a home or cell phone number on the Registry.

You may have received an email telling you that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls as a result of a new cell phone number database; however, that is not the case. Federal Communications Commission regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers.
